An American Woman Living in Japan, Raising a Multicultural Family, and Finding Balance in East vs. West Living

I’m an American woman unexpectedly living in Japan — married to a Japanese person, raising multicultural kids, and navigating east vs. west living. I didn’t study Japanese culture. I wasn’t curious about it.
But somehow life brought me here. And now I jokingly refer to myself as Just another Japanese housewife. This space is where East meets West—where I share what I’m learning about:
- Harmony – (心) : Finding harmony and balance, inside and out
- Wellness – (輝) : Nourishing body and spirit through wellness practices
- Daily Living – (暮らし) : Family life, daily life, and cultural rituals
- Travel – (旅) : Quiet moments and small discoveries across Japan
This isn’t an expert’s guide—But a reflection on what it means to embrace another culture, and in the process, come home to yourself.
Wherever you are, whatever path you’re on—I hope something here helps you feel at home in yourself, even if it looks different than you once imagined.
